Reformation Month, observed in October, honors the Protestant Reformation's pioneers who challenged Catholic Church authority and sought biblical accessibility. Jan Hus (c. 1369–1415), a Bohemian reformer influenced by John Wycliffe's ideas, was condemned for heresy—including promoting the Bible's supremacy and vernacular preaching—and burned at the stake on July 6, 1415, at the Council of Constance. His martyrdom foreshadowed the Reformation. Others, like William Tyndale, faced similar fates: strangled and burned in 1536 for translating the Bible into English to make it available to common people. These sacrifices underscore the era's perilous quest for religious reform.
